Personal Finance
From LDS Sunday School
The General Authorities have certainly covered the basics and for me to presume I can add seems presumptious, but noone has written anything about money on this site and so here goes.
Chapter One: Income versus Outgo
The lesson many people still are learning is that if one's outgo exceeds one's income there will not be harmony. If you are single the lack of peace will be in the form of knowing you can not afford to purchase the things you need or want. Along with, possibly, the gnawing sense that you are increasing your debt and decreasing your net worth. If you are married, the challenges complicate because the inability to have peace around money in a relationship is one of the biggest causes of strife and divorce. Not to mention, not being able to provide the necessities for one's children is horrible.
On the good side, just like any 101 class, learning to cause income to exceed outgo is the first step in discovering a whole world of possibilities with money. Although we will speak of them later, from a big picture standpoint they are as follows: peace, choices, leverage, power, and charity.
To be continued . . .
